How to Clean Plated Steel Barware
Made from 18/8 (304) stainless steel, our barware uses the more premium steel in the hospitality industry. Despite this high end construction, plated steel requires great care to maintain it to a high standard.
When an item is plated with gold, rose gold, or metal black, it is purely for aesthetic purposes. These coatings do not enhance the performance of your barware.
If you want to maintain the appearance of your plated barware then you will have to treat it with great care when mixing drinks. Banging a plated item around your bar top, or against other barware will almost certainly lead to scratches on the surface.
Plated items are not dishwasher safe, and must always be hand washed. Placing plated items in a dishwasher will increase the chances of the plating getting worn off.
What You Need to Clean Plated Barware
For washing: It is best to use mild dish soap and a soft sponge to avoid corroding or scratching the metal.
For drying: Use a soft cotton or hemp cloth to dry your plated barware, not polyester or synthetic cloths, as they may scratch the surface.
How to Wash Plated Barware
With a soft sponge, mild soap, and warm water, scrub in circular motions until debris and other grime are gone.
Rinse with warm water to remove soap and particles.
Dry thoroughly with a soft dishtowel.
Dry again with a second dishtowel. *
*Any leftover water or dampness can result in oxidation and tarnishing of your plated barware, so a second drying is essential to preserve shine and keep your barware intact.
