Orea Brewer V4 Narrow Single Fast
Hailing from the UK, Orea has been quietly upping their game since the early days and reshaping the brewing landscape. We knew that they were already gaining a strong recognition when Sherry Hsu from Taiwan won the Orea V3 back in 2022. The Orea stands out from its sea of competitors based on its strongest suite - consistency. Fast forward to the V4, it employs a new modular system to attach and remove modular bottoms which was previously not possible to do on he V3. As Orea puts it, “the system was designed to make big changes to the system but with small moving parts. The Fast bottom is what sets the Orea uniquely apart from most of the competition out there, just ask Martin Wolf (who was the newly crowned World Brewers Champion 2024 from Australia), with his winning recipe employing the Narrow Fast Orea dripper to his advantage.
For the V4 Narrow, it features an “unclogable design” and allows for brewers to experiment with higher dosages, finer grinds or even thinner filter papers. Do note that the draw-down time on the Fast would be outside a typical brew with V60 or Kalita. Take note that there are 2 versions of the V4 coming in both Narrow and Wide configuration. The Narrow version (which is what we are retailing) features a 73-deg wall angle and is designed to hold between 12-28g of coffee grounds with a maximum of 2-cup serving in mind. The Wide version has a wider wall of 65-deg and is designed to hold between 12-36g of coffee grounds and can go up to a maximum of 2 bigger cups. The Narrow will result in a brighter and more intensity cup whereas the Wide will provide more body and balance. Either way, both drippers will deliver consistency regardless of which you choose.
